Christian Education
The programs offered in Christian Education are provided toward the end of making persons mature, fruit-bearing disciples of Jesus Christ whose life mission becomes doing the same. Our core Scriptures include: Matt. 28:18-20; Col. 1:28,29; Acts 1:8; 2 Tim. 2:2; Mark 3:14 and Acts 4:13.

Our programs are structured according to the following core values: Transformation (becoming like Christ) and Transference (helping others to become like Christ with the expectation of their doing the same).

THE CONNECTION POINT — Virtual Classes
Adults (22 and beyond)

Connecting to Christ and One Another to Point all to doing the same. . .

The Connection Point is a Bible study setting in which adults can live out Jesus’ Great Commission to make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). Therefore, its structure encourages transformation (change) and transference (exchange) in the context of koinonia, intimate fellowship with God and other believers.

Transformation is about growing in the likeness of Christ. It is about intentionally connecting to Christ through His word and to one another through sharing and living that word together. Transference is intentionally giving God’s word and the Christ life away to others by leading them to faith in Christ and helping them and other believers to grow up in Christ, so that they too can be fit to spiritually nurture others. It is the pointing others to the same.

Bible study groups are conducted by a Lead Teacher and Spiritual Coaches who are selected from within the class. When all the players are in place, two things are happening: (1) Seasoned believers, serving as Spiritual Coaches, are “teaching” new believers toward maturity; and (2) Those needing nurturing are submitting to the accountability authority of their Spiritual Coach in an effort to become fit to do the same.

A variety of studies are offered each semester - Fall, Winter/Spring and Summer (see current class listing) and are taught by lead teachers who have had over 50 years of combined Bible teaching experience.

SENIOR ADULT BIBLE STUDY — Sundays, 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Senior Adults (60 and beyond)

Our Seniors love being together. They love studying God’s word together, so a Bible study group is designed just for them. The biblical content is rich, but the pace is slowed down a bit. Even though they are classified as “retired,” they know that they never retire from learning God’s word and doing His work as they are able. They too want to go beyond their present spiritual attainments and to be all they can be in Christ and for His kingdom purposes.

COLLEGE/CAREER BIBLE STUDY — Sundays, 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
(ages 18-21)

Young Adults between 18 and 21 are in their college years, though some may choose to put off college until they are “ready.” These are important developmental years as young adults face the challenge of a new identity as adults which come with a new independence. They face crucial questions about their life’s mission or work. Some may even be thinking about marriage and children or at least wondering when they might be ready to “settle down.”

Their Bible study time is intended to help them answer these questions from a biblical perspective. Even more, they are stirred toward seeing their lives from God’s perspective. He has a purpose; He has the plan. He created them “for such a time as this.”

TEEN BIBLE STUDY — Sundays, 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Teens (Grades 7 to 12)

There is so much that demands the time and attention of our teens. Satan and the world are real competitors. We are literally battling with God and on behalf of God for their hearts, minds and souls. Therefore, we intentionally set out to provide Bible studies that are relevant with great potential for impact. Teens are challenged to weigh the claims of Christ and the Christian worldview against all that is secular, a worldview which sets itself against Christ and with which they are constantly faced and can easily access through various modes of media. The students who want to live for Christ receive the ammunition they need to be victorious in this warfare for their hearts, minds and souls.

Along with peers who also are searching for truth, teens receive God’s word from an experienced Bible study teacher. They can ask questions and receive the personal attention they need to experience all that God intends.

CHILDREN's BIBLE STUDY  — Sundays, 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
(Nursery to Grade 6)

While their parents are at The Connection Point, children ages 2 to Grade 6 are in DiscipleLand. This is the place where we introduce them to the love that God has expressed in Jesus Christ. It is here that they can make a profession of faith in Jesus as Savior and begin their journey as disciples of Christ. DiscipleLand is a complete Bible learning system which, more specifically, leads children to know God intimately, to love Him passionately, and to serve Him selflessly. The children’s books are magazine quality and filled with meaningful activities to enhance their Bible study experience.

AWANA — Tuesdays, 6:45 to 8:45 p.m.  (September through May)

  • Kids AWANA

The highlight of our week is AWANA. The clubbers come ready to praise God, recite verses, receive awards, play games and shop in The Awana Store. AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and is based on 2 Timothy 2:15. Each week at the opening ceremony this verse is recited in this way: 2 Timothy 2:15 - “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15.

Clubs are provided for children ages 3 to grade 6. They are Cubbies (ages 3 & 4); Sparks (K-2nd grade); Truth & Training is the club for 3rd through 6th graders, which we group by gender.  CPBC’s AWANA Clubs meet from September to May on Tuesdays.

  • Teen AWANA

Teen AWANA is the next level in AWANA for those beyond 6th grade. We work to meet students where they are in order to bring them to the level where Christ wants them to be. So, what’s great about Teen AWANA? Teens have another night in the week where they can hang with friends, receive practical instruction from God’s word and be rewarded for the Bible study work that they have done at home. They end their night in the gymnasium!

Teen AWANA is broken into two segments: Trek for 7th & 8th graders and Journey for 9th through 10th graders. Each is moving toward understanding that being a Christian is an all day every day thing, 24/7. Why? Because the Christian Walk Never Stops, the words printed on the Trek t-shirts.
