The following classes begin January 15, 2012. Classes are held Sundays, 8:30 - 9:30 a.m.

In-depth Bible Study Series. Three studies are being offered in The Connection Point with each using the same resources: your Bible, journal, and a booklet entitled Know Your Bible - All 66 Books Explained and Applied. The cost of the booklet is $1. The journal should be a composition book of your choosing, which can cost from $1-$7. (See any office supply store for purchase by September 4.) Each class syllabus provides a daily reading outline and instructions on how to journal. You will also be further enriched by the in-class group projects and/or at-home individual projects. (In-depth means that the books of the Bible will be read from cover to cover.)

Know Your Bible is a concise, easy-to-understand guide to God's Word - giving you a helpful and memorable overview of all 66 books. It provides data on the author and time frame, a ten-word synopsis, thoughts on what makes the book unique or unusual, a listing of key verrses, and a "So What?" section of practical application. It's a fantastic resource for individuals and ministries! Quotations are in the NIV, ASV, and KJV.  

  • An In-depth Survey of the Pentateuch: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy

The first five books of the Old Testament are called "The Pentateuch." In these books you find the beginning of our story as beings created in the image of God and created for God. You will come to know God as a relational God who pursues His fallen creation by a variety of means. Teacher: Sister Brenda Taylor

  • An In-depth Survey of Joshua, Judges, Ruth

The forty-year wandering is over. The Jordan is to be crossed and the Promised Land is to be claimed. The consequences of disobedience are known and the benefits of repentance are reaped. David's lineage is noted! Teacher: Deacon Sam Akitobi

  • An In-depth Survey of the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John

 "Tell me the story of Jesus. Write on my heart every word." That is what you are about to encounter. The story of Jesus - His ministry, message and mission as you read with great intentionality the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Teacher: Deaconess Hyacinth Salmon

FAITH Foundations. The leader and coaches in this group provide 10 weeks of follow-up for new believers or for believers who are new to Bible study. Guided by an experienced coach, group members learn the foundational truths about their relationship with Christ and how to practice the spiritual disciplines that are necessary to experience intimacy and growth in their relationship with Christ. Those truths include lessons on Confidence, Acceptance, Empowerment and Development. Those disciplines include daily Bible reading, meditating, praying, memorizing, applying and sharing the Word.   Lead Teacher, Deaconess Modupe Bada. Cost, $5.


More Sunday Morning Bible Study Opportunities!

A Study for Young Adults, Ages 22-35. YOU: Connect, Grow, Serve. Go is a culturally relevant Sunday School curriculum with a magazine look and feel that offers biblically based lessons to help your members connect, grow, serve, and ultimately be engaged in impacting the world for Jesus Christ. Intentionally focused on African American and urban/multicultural believers, this flexible quarterly resource provides weekly Bible study for leaders and learners, devotionals, teaching plans, and articles on hot topics, missions, and more. The short topical studies are great for small groups too. Teacher: Sister Cheryl Callahan. Cost, $5. 

A Study for Senior Adults. The Christian and the Bible: Growing through the Study of God's Word by Bill Bright.  The Bible, God's holy, inspired Word, is without comparison. The heart-warming story of God's love for mankind, the Bible is an exciting and joyful adventure of reading, meditation and study. No other book ever written can equal it. And no one can live a full, abundant, supernatural life without daily drawing upon the supernatural resources of God's Word. Teacher, Sister Lillie Shepherd.  Cost $5.
